Wrinklewort & Gum Field Day
The nationally endangered Button Wrinklewort Daisy is endemic to South-eastern Australia and is at risk of extinction.
It is one of the top 20 priority species listed for urgent intervention under the Australian Threatened Species Strategy.
Through funding from the Victorian Government’s Biodiversity On-ground Action Fund, Trust for Nature has partnered with Monash and Latrobe University and the Arthur Rylah Institute to return this small daisy to the Gippsland Plains through the Australian Research Centre Linkage Genetic Rescue program. Find out more about this specialised daisy from guest speaker Dr Steve Sinclair.
A field trip In the afternoon looks at a grassland restoration trial near the Perry River where we are transforming a weedy area back into a native grassland on a covenanted property.
