Trust for Nature register of gift, benefit and hospitality offers

Trust for Nature requires its staff to act with integrity and is committed to the detection and investigation of any situations which may be regarded as demonstrating behaviours which do not meet ethical standards. Our employees cannot accept a gift that may bring their integrity, or that of TfN, into disrepute. This gifts register is a record of all reportable gift offers, and has been 'de-identified' to comply with privacy laws.

Trust for Nature requires its staff to act with integrity and is committed to the detection and investigation of any situations which may be regarded as demonstrating behaviours which do not meet ethical standards. The purpose of this policy is to guide the conduct of TfN staff, and external parties associated with TfN, to avoid confusion regarding the provision and receipt of gifts, benefits and hospitality; and enable appropriate management of such situations.

Whistleblowing and public interest disclosures

Having an effective whistleblowing regime is key to maintaining integrity in the public system. It can prevent and hold to account corruption and improper conduct in the public sector.  

Trust for Nature is committed to encouraging and facilitating the making of disclosures of improper and corrupt conduct by public officers and public bodies. Under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2012, individuals who report improper conduct and corruption in the Victorian public sector, can do so in the knowledge they will be protected from reprisals and through confidentiality.   

The Trust for Nature Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblowing) Policy and Procedures demonstrate Trust for Nature’s commitment to the aims and objective of the Victorian public sector whistleblowing regime.

Appropriate use of Trust for Nature’s DGR status (Non-conduit policy)

Trust for Nature is an entity on the Register of Environmental Organisations. This means that Trust for Nature is endorsed as a Deductable Gift Recipient (DGR) by the Australian Taxation Office and can receive donations that will be tax deductable for the donor. As part of our legal responsibilities as a registered environmental charity with DGR status, Trust for Nature is committed to ensuring that it will not be directed by any donor to act as a collection agency for tax-deductable donations, and will not act as a collection agency for tax-deductible donations intended by a donor to be passed onto another organisation or person.
