About us

Trust for Nature is a not-for-profit organisation that works collaboratively to protect nature on private land forever. We have protected about 100,000 ha across both covenants and our conservation reserves, as well as managing 44 reserves and operating a Revolving Fund for conservation property purchases. We have since evolved into one of Victoria’s primary land conservation organisations, with several tools to help people protect biodiversity on private land.

The role

Trust for Nature is seeking a part time, fixed term Conservation Finance Advisor based in Melbourne to assist with exploring opportunities to broaden the types of finance that can be accessed to fund private land conservation.

The Conservation Finance Advisor’s primary responsibility is therefore to identify and pursue opportunities for Trust for Nature to develop new partnerships based on financing structures that access or leverage non-traditional finance sources to achieve private land conservation.

The role requires tertiary qualification in finance, business management, environmental management or other relevant qualifications and experience in the finance/business sector or within the public or not-for-profit sectors in roles with significant private sector engagement.

The nature of this role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships. In addition the role needs to manage multiple competing demands and requires well-developed communication and negotiation skills. Familiarity with Australian law governing investment and finance is required and familiarity with Australian land conservation is desirable.

The position is a fixed term, part time (0.6FTE) contract from September 2019 to August 2020. The base full time salary is $84,527 per annum, ($50,716 pro rata) plus 9.5% superannuation.
