A unique combination of freshwater spring and saline wetlands, close to Mt. Arapiles. The freshwater spring was a favoured stopover along the Gold Escort Route of the 1860s and 70s. Today, the unique combinations of freshwater and saline wetland are a favoured habitat, supporting a diverse range of birds and insects including one of the largest populations of Altona Skipper Butterfly. There are also many plants on the site, including two rare glasswort species. The property is only 15 km from Natimuk and 40km from Horsham. Natimuk has a great community that hosts art galleries, regular farmers markets and the annual Nati Frinj Festival. Being so close to Arapiles, the town also has many rock climbers.
