Testimonial:

Merle Stewart loved the bush and wanted to see it protected. She owned a 127.4ha property of Box-Ironbark forest near Nagambie, Victoria and while she wanted access to the land, she was no longer able to manage the large area due to health reasons and her financial situation.

'It worries me that no one is caring for the land; it has been years since I was able to check the situation with regards to rabbits, foxes, feral cats, weeds, erosion and so on,' said Merle.

After considering her options, Merle entered into a conservation covenant with Trust for Nature for part of her property.

'This enabled me to retain and continue living on the remaining 40ha property, which was of great sentimental value, while ensuring it could be protected well into the future."
