Gifts of land
As a Deductible Gift Recipient, Trust for Nature can also receive gifts of land.
To gain a tax deduction for such a gift, the land must be valued over $5,000. The donor must seek a valuation from the Australian Valuation Office - part of the Australian Tax Office - which can be done before or after making the gift. A request for valuation form must be lodged with the Australian Valuation Office along with a certificate of donation, which describes the gift and confirms its donation to Trust for Nature. Once again, donors with very specific preferences, for example, retaining land for a stated purpose such as a wildlife sanctuary, should consult Trust for Nature before finalising their intentions, as future land management costs would also need to be provided for.
