Port Phillip and Westernport

Xanthorrhoea

The Port Phillip and Westernport region fans out in a radius of about 60 kilometres from central Melbourne.

The ecosystems found include coastal fringes and heathlands, dry sclerophyll and moist forest, grasslands and grassy woodlands, saltmarshes, swamps and riparian communities.

The region contains icons such as the spectacular wet forests of the Dandenongs and Mount Macedon, the rugged Cape Schanck to Portsea coastline and the beautiful Lerderderg Gorge.
